Why is Chair Yoga
Connections unique?

This isn’t just about stretching or gentle movement – it’s about building connections, enjoying time with people we care about, and feeling part of a supportive community.

Inspired by Rozel, whose mom lives with dementia, this program was created to support adults who may need extra care or companionship. We encourage participants to bring a friend, companion, or caregiver so they can share the experience, meet new people, and engage in meaningful social interaction. It’s also an opportunity to give back to the community by fostering inclusion, connection, and joy.

Socializing is essential for mental health and healthy aging – we all deserve to feel connected, supported, and joyful!

What to expect?

Join us for a welcoming, beginner-friendly session of Chair Yoga Connections — a gentle, supportive way to move your body using the comfort of a chair. This multi-level class is designed so that everyone, no matter their experience or ability, will get something out of it. Caregivers and friends are welcome too — they’ll have a great time participating alongside you!  Together, we’ll:

  • Improve flexibility, balance, and joint mobility
  • Boost circulation, energy, and overall wellness
  • Ease tension and promote relaxation
  • Support coordination and functional strength
  • And of course, fun and new friends

Please note that our facility has elevators and is wheelchair accesible.

Meet your teachers!

SYLVIE OUELLET
Sylvie discovered Ashtanga yoga in her 20’s and randomly went to classes but didn’t have a clear direction…then life happened, developing a successful career as a Financial Planner and becoming a mother later in life, and through it all, managing the ups and downs of Crohn’s disease, an autoimmune condition affecting the digestive system.

In 2021, she decided to apply for the Yoga Teacher Training at Energie EnCorps, mainly to develop a regular Ashtanga practice, and to be part of a supportive community. This is her fifth year, having successfully completed 200 hour YTT, 300 Hour Mentorship and 260 hours of Sadhana (continuing education). She also completed a 50 hour certification in Adaptive Chair Yoga.  Her goal is to retire in one year from her full time job and dedicate more time to her yoga practice and continued learning, share her knowledge as a teacher and volunteer in her community to help spread the goodness and accessibility of yoga, one student at a time.

SANDRA MIRON

Sandy completed her 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training at Energie EnCorps and is currently more than halfway through a 300-hour Advanced Ashtanga Yoga Mentorship program. In the spring, she also completed a 50-hour Adapted Yoga Teacher Training at Energie EnCorps, led by Anne Archambault, a respected teacher with decades of experience in the field.

A devoted mother and wife, Sandy has spent much of her life building a successful career in business. Now, as she gradually transitions into retirement, she is embracing the opportunity to reconnect with herself through yoga and mindfulness. Her practice has become not only a source of physical strength but also a path to personal growth.

Sandy is passionate about deepening her understanding of yoga and wellness, and is eager to share what she learns. Her goal is to inspire and support others in finding their own sense of well-being, purpose, and connection—on and off the mat.
