This program is designed to help teachers understand how yoga can be safely and effectively adapted for aging bodies, injuries, mobility limitations, and cognitive challenges—skills that are increasingly essential as the demand for accessible movement continues to grow. It is specially designed to help adults who may benefit from a gentle, supportive movement, including seniors, adults with mobility challenges, and their companions or caregivers.

Program Details

This program is divided into two distinct modules, and is ideal for anyone interested in starting to work with this specialized population. With the aging population on the rise, this training offers an excellent opportunity to specialize in this field. Obtaining the proper certification ensures that you are well-prepared to work with this group and meet professional standards required by insurers.

All Abilities- Seated Ambulatory

This module equips yoga teachers, healthcare professionals, and senior fitness instructors with the skills to teach adaptive chair yoga for individuals with varying mobility levels, including seniors, injury recovery, and age-related conditions.

Mobility Cognitive Challenges | Seated non-ambulatory

Learn how to create safe, engaging chair yoga classes for individuals with severe mobility or neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s, dementia, stroke recovery, and wheelchair use.

Cost:
$895 for Modules 1 and 2 OR $500 for Module 1 only.
 
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations are accepted until June 01, 2026, with a 30% administrative fee plus tax. No refunds after June 02, 2026.

Pre-requisites & Awarded Certifications

Pre-requisite:
Completion of a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program, or a background in healthcare (e.g., PAB – préposée aux bénéficiaires, RT (Recreation Therapist), OT (Occupational Therapist) or certified Fitness Instructor.
 
Certifications:
25 hours YACEP certification upon completion of Module 1.
50hours YACEP certification upon completion of Module 1 and 2.

Anne Archambault (M.Ed., E-RYT-500, Chair Yoga Specialist)

About Anne Archambault

Led by Anne Archambault (M.Ed., E-RYT-500, Chair Yoga Specialist), the 50-hour program is divided into two 25-hour modules focused on seated ambulatory and non-ambulatory populations.

Anne Archambault is a seasoned Yoga instructor passionate about making yoga accessible to all. First trained in 1984, Anne has since earned her E-RYT 500 certification and holds a Massage Therapy certification. She is a part-time faculty member at Concordia University, teaching Recreation Therapy for over 25 years.

Anne’s journey into Chair Yoga began in clinical settings, working with seniors, individuals recovering from brain injuries, and those facing mobility challenges. She blends her expertise as a therapist, teacher, and yogi to create an inclusive, empowering environment. Anne’s workshops are designed for both Yoga Teachers and healthcare professionals, offering practical knowledge and techniques to bring adaptive yoga to diverse populations.

This program is designed for yoga teachers, healthcare professionals (such as physiotherapists, nurses, RTs, OTs, and PABs), fitness instructors, and caregivers who want to specialize in working with seniors and individuals with mobility or cognitive challenges. It is ideal for anyone looking to enter or expand into this growing field.

You will be equipped to safely and effectively teach adaptive Chair Yoga to a wide range of populations, including seniors, individuals recovering from injury, and those living with mobility or neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s, stroke, dementia, and MS. You will also be able to create structured, accessible class plans tailored to different ability levels.

A 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is recommended, but not mandatory if you have a healthcare or fitness background (such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, recreation therapy, or certified fitness instruction). The program is designed to support both yoga and healthcare professionals.

Cancellations are accepted until February 15, 2026, and are subject to a 30% administrative fee plus applicable taxes.

After February 16, 2026, no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.
